LITTLE GIRL CURLS...

Little girls are far more opinionated than little boys. At least MY little girl is. Ray likes getting her hair done (yea-she finally has some hair--a miracle!) but it has to be done a certain way and that way isn't necessarily the same everyday.

This is how she requested her 'pony' most recently.

The teletubbie resemblance is rather hilarious in a creepy sort of way.

She; like most little girls, is quite particular about the clothing she wears. Again, my boys never seemed to care (and still don't) about what they wear. Her toys have special places and her room is her special 'SPOT'. I opted to decorate her room much like I did her old bedroom in our last home. I thought this might make her feel less 'out of place' with the move and more comfortable. It seems to have worked out well...at least for now...

I'm quite convinced that the years I have between these light greens and soft pinks and a wall full of boy band pictures is diminishing faster than I'm prepared for. So, let me keep 'soakin' in all this baby girl stuff for as long as Rachel and time will allow!

LITTLE GIRLS ARE SOMETHING ELSE!

(Typing this even as Rachel is in the middle of a terrible-two's temper tantrum! WOW--I didn't know something so adorable could scream that loud!)

ANOTHER ONE DONE...

I have been 'itching' to remove the cabinets over the bar since we moved in. Carrie helps get the ball rolling during their visit. "Hey al, where's your sawz-all?" She and I will do some major demo to these cabinets if necessary to get them out and open up the space. Fortunately; Dad comes to the rescue, not because he wants to--but for fear of what we might do to this beautiful custom cabinetry. Oh, how my dad loves natural wood....anything... (he'd be devastated to know what we did to the tree in our front yard.)

"Papa B" is very thorough in his remodeling endeavors--even the small ones. He wants to be sure that we salvage the cabinets and do the least damage possible.

We give it a good 'team effort'.

Mike, Mom, Dad and Carrie muscle the cabinets while I snap a few photos.

WOW! The cabinets come out perfectly and we will be able to install and use them in the basement. Another project for another day...
Unfortunately, Mike's adams-apple will never be the same.
OK--Here's the after--right after we took the cupboards downstairs.
Dad, seems pleased with the results.
"Hmm...it does open it up in here."
After the family left for home; I kept myself busy spackling, painting and hanging shelves.
Thanks Dad for my early birthday present (power tools--YES!) and for sharing your handyman knowledge with me. So, what do you think?

After: View from the kitchen

After: View from the great room

Thanks again -for coming to visit us- guys! And thanks for all of your help.
One more project done and another thousand to go...
WE LOVE AND MISS YOU ALREADY!!!

Finally...some 'things' to say...

We've been in our new place for about six weeks now and we are starting to feel more and more at home.

This is what our house looked like this morning...

HOLY CRAP! There IS a house behind that forest!!!

We've been watching a lot of HGTV and well...has anyone seen 'Curb Appeal'? So, we decided to yank the trees and do something a little different. Any suggestions or ideas on 'sprucing' it up a little more? NO...I'm not interested in any gnomes or ginormous carved bears or anything of that nature....

Or...AM I?

OK-Here's a picture of the main living area taken the day we moved in.

This is what it looks like today. Well...usually I keep the blinds open and there are a lot more toys on the floor. But you get the idea.

I am open to any and all suggestions regarding home decor, Feng Shui, paint, etc. It doesn't matter how much HGTV I watch I seem to miss the mark somewhere and need a little extra help. Plus, you guys are all so good at this stuff.

I have more to say....shocked? But, I'm too tired to post any more tonight....shocked?

So, g'Night for now.....

love ya!
